Led Zeppelin - Lucio Mazzi - GoodMood 2010

This is not a review. In fact, has never seen an author reviewing his own book ...

But it is worth explaining a few things.
To begin with this book is not read but hear : audiobook is a perfect who wants to listen to doing other things (driving, eating, cleaning, trumpet ... oh well you understand). I've written, Nino Carollo read it, as you download from http://www.goodmood.it/libri-in-auto/led_zeppelin_bio_rock (but also from iTunes or other sites that sell audio books) and listen to him. How it works.

Then, it is a biography . trivial, you say. However, now, on some historical groups, is - paradoxically - increasingly difficult trovarte of mere biographies. Find books on a certain album, their concerts, on particular aspects of their affair, collections of annotated text or not, but if a just want to know "who they are and what they did," he certainly difficulties . This book (and those that follow: U2 in a little while, and then Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones ... and then) just want to talk about "life history and miracles," to whom the band in question wants to know "life history and miracles."

As I worked on this book? I am based on the few existing products (and dated), mainly English, and I rebuilt the mosaic of the many events, often in contradiction, I trovato.Dopo of that I started to comb through my collection of magazines from the 70s and I have explored all through interviews, reportage and contemporary reviews.

It begins with the birth of Jimmy, Robert, John and John Paul, born when it comes to Led Zep, it tells the story from its beginnings to their triumphs, and you stop at the time of their appearance at Live Aid. After, Led Zeppelin are not simply more existed, although it would be continued, for example, the artistic Plant and Page. But this is un'alltra history.

us be clear here there is nothing new 'and Zeppelin, as well as other world-famous band, now everything has been said and written, but it certainly has done justice to so much nonsense circulated over the years and, most importantly, it is tried to build what is truly succcesso for the use and consumption of those who simply want to know now and that Wikipedia is not satisfied.

Happy reading!

Fire Extinguisher Icon

Pooh - Parsifal - 1973

Mario Goretti, Valerio Negrini, Gilberto Fagg, Bob Gilliot, Mauro Bertoli ... Who are they? George, but the Pooh! The first line of Pooh, one dated 1965 that shows the development of "professional" of a group that for years, "beat" the dance halls of Bologna: the Jaguar.

Nothing to do with the current Dody, Roby and Red, who, one by one (with the recent fugitive Tony) would come in later years, but Valerio Negrini, one of the greatest Italian songwriters of all time , who earlier sat behind the drums, and today takes care of the texts, represents continuity during these almost 40 years of the longest running group of Italy.

However in 1971, to sign the first two hits of the band ("strong desire for her" and "Thought") is training almost final: there is still Negrini Riccardo Fogli on drums and bass, but Roby and Dody are already in place. In 1973, with "Parsifal," is finally Canzian instead of sheets and D'Orazio instead of Negrini. Here we are.

It can therefore be considered as "Parsifal" Pooh's first album of the 'modern era', but its value is not of course in this. The period of rock music was symphonic scores dilated, long instrumental sections, sumptuous orchestrations ...

The Pooh, the orchestra had always used, but that came mainly from England was something I had never done and that This intrigued them: spent hours listening to "Supper's Ready" by Genesis and thought that this was a matter that would have just wanted to try.

The 12 minutes that were born to give the title track pieces. A couple of years before, Facchinetti had been asked for a soundtrack for a film Lattuada "This kind of love", then he had not done anything, but the music remained: they became the core of the track where was combined with a theme already present in the album "contrast" of '69. For the first part

Fachinetti composed a theme of taste "Chopin" on which Negrini wrote a text inspired by the legend of the Holy Grail. The rest did the Battle of guitars with solos by a pair of primer for aspiring guitarists.

In the end it worked damn song well: it was in line with the music production more "evolved", but it had an accessibility that makes it accessible to the general public. A good compromise.

certainly not impressed that much fans of Genesis and PFM, but it certainly brought a lot of songs that just listening to a rock evolved.

The album then there was only "Parsifal," a good comparison chart of songs were more traditional (albeit excellent) as "You and me for another day" and "Inifiniti us," recorded with an orchestra of 60 elements. Although it was the story of the knight without fear and who ended up staying in the musical history of the four riproposero it up in concert not fed up and eventually renamed "pal par ...

I Have Power Of Attorney And Need To Cash A Check

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - live in Crespellano 25/9/2010

for the first time I attended a concert of the Tour exactly 37 years ago. I was younger I was younger all the spectators at the concert on Saturday night, they were younger: those of the Bank. But no one looked older .

Much of the audience probably went back to a gig after years and years, suddenly younger. The "boys" of the Bank, on stage, at no time have DECLARED age. Incredibles.

While we must give up the last time Rodolfo Maltese (which probably has imposed changes to the lineup), the band got in a square packed an hour and a half high level , exploring almost entirely "Darwin", with some points in the first album ("Metamorphosis", "RIP", "Trace"), the only "I do not break" (presented as an encore) from "I am born free and" spider "from" As a last supper . Nothing from other albums.

Calderoni Right on time, acrobatic Nocenzi, and this was known, but what really impressed was Frank James whose voice has lost none enamel, with age, but rather nuances found and dramatic accents that have greatly enriched the expressive capabilities. Exemplary in this sense a fantastic "750,000 years ago love."

But members said the "historic" is worth it to spend a few words about the musicians who now assist them. Tiziano punctual and resourceful friends on bass (but not exciting sounds), effective without overdoing the guitarist Philip Marchegiani and valuable with its counterpoint to Alexander Papotto clarinet and sax. All fell perfectly, however, in peculiar atmosphere of the band. A concert

other times, in the end, a proposal for compelling music out of the norm today's business (who today would never listen and enjoy complicated tracks 12 minutes?) that, as was "once", it gave space to the right virtuosity, inventiveness and creativity. All things today are not part of the music disposable "by MTV," but fans of vintage men wanted to stand exactly like this: last night as 35 years ago.

CAT STEVENS - Saturnight-Live in Tokyo - 1974

It 'really impossible to choose between the beautiful album of Cat Stevens in the early '70s. Among the "Mona bona Jackon," "Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and Firecat, Catch Bull at Four" and "Foreigner" is simply impossible to determine which is best: are all little masterpieces. So I chose some Solomon, opting for a little-known , gorgeous, live '74 that actually represents a collection of the best of the early years of the singer.

And that, more than any sterile collection, offers the advantage of perhaps the best versions of those in the study (still to be had). Album, released quietly and almost impossible to find (but the web is a mine that rarely disappoints), in fact, little is known, however, that what counts, what interests us, we it tells the song in it.

Here is the lineup: "Wild World" "Oh Very Young", "Sitting," "Where Do The Children Play," "Lady d'Arbanville," "Another Saturday Night," "Hard Headed Woman," " Peace Train, "" Father and Son, "" King of Trees "," A Bad Penny "," Bitterblue. It's enough to completely describe the universe of music and art of this strange character representing (he was born in London from greek father and Swedish mother) a strange melting pot of cultures and influences.

The Cat Stevens we know and love is curiously including between "two other" Cat Stevens with "our" have little to do. The "first" had released two albums of pop and beat between '67 and '68, before being nailed to two years in a hospital bed from tuberculosis.

was released from the hospital singer delicate moments that have remained in history and in our hearts: "Father and Son," "Lady d'Arbanville" dedicated to his ex, the painter Patty Arbanville, "Morning Has Broken "" Wild World "," Sitting, "" Where do the children play "...

Finally here's the late 70's third appearance that sonvolgendo millions of fans, throwing to the winds name, artistic identity, rights to old records and, ultimately, a lifetime to call Jusuf Islam, devote himself to Islam and return to be talked about only in connection with statements death sentence to an offender writer to think differently, and love to "brother" Sadam Hussein.

Obviously we are interested in the second (and perhaps the first, just as curiosity). And this is a live good compendium of the best phase of the Cat we love (in the second half of '70 would have produced album is not the highest, indeed, and recently came back without exaltation). If you fly over on

guilty lacking a fundamental episode ("Morning Has Broken," so to speak) this live, despite its short duration, leads Stevens at his best.

In the new arrangements, drier, more brilliant, his songs shine like little gems . Just a few sounds and a few tools left in the foreground the poetry and sensitivity of these songs.

was the direction in which Stevens would have to work, but since the later episodes, made the mistake of stifling their vein with too many sounds and too many instruments. Until the turn of religion that would have wiped out too.

Skirting To Hide Pipes

Tito Schipa Jr. - Orpheus 9-1970

Forty years after the premiere, and two years was being, in its cinematografca, the final event of the 65th International Film Festival of Venice, "Orfeo 9" is presented for the first time in a new production at a theater opera. Will take place on 4, 5 and 7 December 2010 at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

"Orfeo 9", "rock opera he composed the late 60s by Tito Schipa Jr, son of one of the greatest tenors of 900, builds on the myth of Orpheus , delivering this unhappy love affair in a context typical of the period in which the work was conceived and implemented.

Orpheus is a guy who lives in a commune of hippies mark the edge of a big city, and just the city, with its paranoia and alienation looks like hell in which the protagonist loses, look for and definitely lose you again Eurydice.

on this basic structure engage ideas and digressions that touch all the issues at the center of attention in quell'immediato "post '68" : life in common and hitchhiking as symbols of a youthful freedom soon conquered, a strange-bomb (with the A inside a circle to draw all too clearly the symbol of anarchy) that terrorizes the "right-thinking people in the city, the false illusions of artificial paradise, lack of communication and alienation of city life as opposed to the simplicity of life and communion with nature, etc..

Everything to represent, today, the faithful mirror of an era , a "document" that can tell us much about what those years were crucial and how they were young they lived. But

"Orfeo 9" is primarily a musical , a rock opera, the first in the world, above even "Tommy", which should not, however, neglected two major aspects: the visual and Music.

The work was created for the theater, then they have been made into movies. This was sent at the time a couple of times by Rai, in the early '70s, before ending up on the back burner (also blame the 'unacceptable' first floor of a syringe). Schipa is the same time trying to be released on DVD clashes with the resistance of Renato Zero which owns the rights of its output. The result is that the DVD several times announced that never seems to come out (but most welcome await any denials).

Available to all today is, in addition to the must book about the making of the work published by Zone Press, the double CD that thirty years has never stopped to sell (a record) and that of work, collecting the songs.

Loved (all signed by Schipa, words and music, except for a couple of collaborations) that almost always have the quality to stand out from kinds prevailing in the 60s and 70s , to achieve a classic that will accept ago today, something that can not be said of much of the production of that period, strongly characterized by very firm and styles today ... very out of fashion.

Among the singers and musicians involved in the work, some young unknown (then) then that would enjoy great careers: Renato Zero Seller is a hallucination of happiness, Loredana Berte is part of the choir, the future dj is a bluesman Ronnie Jones lost in the alleys, Bill Conti (that went with Rocky fame and money) by the orchestrations ... We're now working

means obsolete dive atmosphere (today) and certainly fascinating, understand a little 'more of an era rich in cultural and social ideas and get acquainted with a work Art, however, of great value, too unjustly neglected.

MILES DAVIS - In A Silent Way - 1969

FLASHBACK
I am 15, my parents are in bed, smanetto with the TV and spout this trumpeter playing something incredible. With him is my beloved Chick Corea ... catch a concert somewhere and finished in the arms of mother Rai somehow. I'm in a trance.

The next morning I rush in the record shop opposite the school and tell the clerk of this trumpeter with Chick Corea. She smiles with a knowing air and pulls me out "In a Silent Way . "It's new trinca!" He says, "just come out." Not true! The disc is out for a few years, but I do not know, I buy with my hard-earned 3500 pounds and taking it home with me.

And as the needle slides into the first groove, I start to walk down the quiet street of Miles. And maybe I have not stopped.

Then it was a wonder for music is so magic that it seems impossible ... and then I realized it was not just a matter of easy listening, but a abyssal depths. So impressed me the "names" (come on, on this record are all there: from Wayne Shorter to Chick, by Herbie Hancock John McLaughlin, Dave Holland from Zawinul: to come up with a jazzrock heaven), then I realized that was not only a question of names , but fingers of breath, heart and brain. We'd arrived after a thousand plays, but we'd arrived.

"In a Silent Way" is made very few notes (compared to the furious, blinding kaleidoscope of "Bitches Brew" that would come later, along the path of electric jazz, so to speak) but what gives depth and emotion are precisely the silences, the expectations between a note and another. Davis, immense, did not need to prove anything: it gives us no virtuosity for virtuosity if you want some scale to the speed of light, but intensity and expressiveness that is its only major .

And his fellow travelers are at play: we are talking about the characters of the show "look how good I am" would win all the first prize and instead understand perfectly that on a quiet street (so I like to translate the title rather than the more correct "So suilenzioso") is walking without a sound.

is an album of whispered phrases, this, forcing the ear to stretch to include: no screaming, on this record. Wiliams caress dishes with chopsticks, you almost never rests on drums, McLaughlin, Corea and Hancock slip on their keyboards, and you must listen carefully to understand their arpeggios just mentioned, Shorter and closes his eyes when breathing, serene in its content ... Davis is one who has often shouted, before and after, but here choose to express themselves subheading. Who knows why. Perhaps that day (February 18, 1969) did so. Maybe it was bitterly cold in New York, maybe it was snowing, who knows ...

Wovenhand - Piazza Verdi - Bologna - July 6, 2010

If all the preachers were like David Eugene Edwards, probably there would be no atheists in the world.

Edwards brings more than two decades around the word of the Lord , first with 16 Horsepower, 2002 with the logical Wovenhand, a musical discourse that ranges from folk and blues, and psychedelic rock medieval music, punk and tradition of Native Americans. On

stand all its apocalyptic mystical visions, narrated with frightening fury and evangelical fervor in a constant state of trance whose sincerity is impossible to doubt. In giving voice to the word of God, Christian never was equally convincing (except, perhaps, Jesus Christ.)

David Eugene Edwards loves Italy. Since there are Wovenhand, has graced our land of about a dozen visits, the problem was that his range seemed to be deliberately limited to the outskirts of Ravenna, having set those shares at least 90% of its performances (Exceptions, if memory leak, Milan and Rome - one visit each).

this evening in Piazza Verdi breaks the border, and the result is that the big events, hundreds of fans of all ages, families with children in tow, a table of Vikings definitely emerged from some concerts death metal Northern European (which will remain for as long as absolutely real estate). There is also Brondi Vasco. At 21:45

precise the crowd like the Red Sea opens the passage of Moses, David Eugene Edwards has arrived, wearing a Hawaiian shirt with flowers from indecency, a panama with white stripe and white feather from Alpine pimp pants long light brown sandals and a student off-site in Sicily. The rest of the band (drums, bass and slide guitar ) dressed in black, mostly shirts open to the fourth button, the sleeve cuffs, casual as it can be an informal reception to an undertaker.

The concert is a long, uninterrupted stream of consciousness tracks of rhythmic, eerie, hypnotic, one amalgamated in the other, almost without pause, in which Edwards grabbed his eyes down, repeatedly empties his glass of whiskey that some unknown diligent bordopalco to ensure on time to fill, seems to want to undermine the head from the neck shots with sudden and violent. It's the same process ever. It is a concert Wovenhand. Musically

seem to hear just returned from the grave of Doors , with the exhumed corpse of Morrison that if the grins on the sidelines, occasionally bits of Elvis Presley, Danzig, Cramps, Joy Division and Sol Invictus (somewhere in the river September also a cover, completely transformed, Heart and Soul of ) or, more simply, the transposition of music in the novels of Cormac McCarthy, but better.

In any event, a unique absolutely awesome, marred only by the immobility of an engineer invisible, unable to resolve the quarrels of Edwards with a spy who does not seem to work. The only downside of a ritual that we hope to repeat as soon as possible.

Alcohol Pain Behind Ears Or Neck

BEATLES - Let It Be - 1970

The end of the Beatles, the end of a decade, the end of a philosophy of life ... Let it be, let it be, now we need to think about what to do with large ...

We enjoyed a lot, but now it's time to put my head straight. Just Beatles, just Love & Peace, just bullshit. Just travel in India, just movies and cartoons, just life in common, just share everything. Now, each for himself and the god of rock for all.

When released "Let It Be", the most popular band in the world no longer exists (officially) for a month (but in reality McCartney and the rest of the group were at loggerheads for some time).

have already released solo albums of Paul, Ringo and John and the four are separated even on the cover .

The whole album has a little 'taste of something " had to be done" because it was really impossible to give up without even a final chapter. Not exactly

a happy ending, but at least the end credits and an end to this great history, the Beatles were.

Perhaps if the story of the Beatles was not over, these songs (recorded before "Abbey Road" which instead came out first) were never published and still not in this capacity.

Instead the four decided they still had to publish a "last record" so the poor in the hands of producer Phil Spector a handful of songs seconds (compared to their standards) recorded without having any desire in a period of boredom and quarrels.

Spector, then, according to almost all of Paul in particular, managed to ruin production with a pompous and pretentious even the little that was good.

He was then considered the best producer in the world, but the material on which it was found to work excelled and eventually became probably also get carried away.

John said: "It was given as shitty pile of shit poorly recorded and with a feeling lousy and has dug something," Paul said, "His work throughout the disc, particularly on" The Long And Winding Road "is terrible, plus represents an intolerable interference with my work. "George Martin was shocked to hear what he had done Spector, the press spoke of" an EP inflated "and" a slab of cardboard "... But it is a

so bad disc "Let It Be"? At the end probably not .

Maybe we should listen with their ears back then, hearing it coming from all that the Beatles had done before, to understand the reactions of the period, but heard today The album is not so terrible .

certainly contains some moments of high-level (the two Harrison songs "I Me Mine" and "For You Blue," but also "The Long And Winding Road", "Two of us", "Get Back" and the same "Let it be ") and the episodes are not memorable (" Maggie Mae "and" One After 909 "which actually belonged to the period Quarrymen, the sluggish" Dig it ") does not seem so scary.

Perhaps Betles deserved a better farewell , but who knows, maybe a great album would make the pain of regret and their fans even more ...

Kates Playground Flip Flops

BEATLES - Abbey Road - 1969

I Beatles had left the recording of 'White Album' apart. Each began to glimpse the end of the joint and the beginning of personal interests. Although no one wanted to say the word "fine", all they had in mind.

Maybe they were tired of each other , perhaps the early enthusiasm had run out, or perhaps the many quarrels economic management had come to undermine the mutual trust, perhaps (as many claim) even Yoko Ono it took its ...

finally deciding to make an album together, even recorded live and without further elaborated, each of them may have thought in reality to a hard farewell.

Why live? The idea was to film the group to work , but the four did not agree on anything and the presence of Yoko Ono on the set certainly did not improve the climate.

Among many difficulties, the filming was carried out (from hundreds of hours if brought out 88 minutes) and the songs were so painstakingly recorded, but then, as also on those recordings was no agreement, all was left gathering dust on shelves. Disc movie and would have gone under the title "Let it be" a year later.

But that was not the end.

After the recording of those pieces, the four decided to agree with George Martin to record a final album before they broke up that now seemed inevitable .

In fact, the songs that comprise this album were conceived and often recorded "in house" by the musicians and some, quite rightly, spoke of four solo albums in one, not the album of a group.

So George must two of his most beautiful songs ever ("Something", the piece of the Beatles with more cover after "Yesterday" and "Here Comes the Sun"), on two songs Lennon hallucinated that would advance his career hits like "Come Together" and destabilizing "" I Want You, "McCartney signature, among other things, the final part of the beautiful suites at the B-side:" She came in through the bathroom window "/ "Golden Slumbers" / "Carry That Weight" and even Ringo took leave from his companions with a bird's wing: the excellent "Octopus's Garden".

A great album at the end. ... Or four great little album

BEATLES - The Beatles - 1968 (White album)

The famous "White Album" by the Beatles is considered by many a monument , a masterpiece like "Sgt Pepper".

This double vinyl is the result of a trip to India that if the Four certainly not increased significantly their spiritual depth, certainly cleared a bit 'their brains by the acid. And in particular Lennon (which is in the company of new girlfriend, Yoko Ono, soon after he took the heroin to attend). This cleaning

unlocks the creativity of the musicians who quickly wrote over thirty songs.

Not all high level: at a distance of time, you could say that it might be better to make a great single album, rather that a double good moments in which living with songs rinunciabili .

In any case, the Beatles decided to record and publish everything. Packaged in a plain white cover era explosion of colors.

But in the end time is the best judge of the greatness of a song (and, in the case of the Beatles, it is unthinkable that a masterpiece to remain "hidden"). So, if the 35 tracks that make up the 'White Album "will remain in the collective memory some (the silly" Ob-la-di ob-la-da ", the sparkling" Back in the USSR ", the beautiful "While my guitar Gently Weeps "that marks the compositional maturity of George, the gentle acoustic ballad" Blackbird "), there is a reason ...

Not that all other tracks are to be ignored: in many great efforts were undertaken under construction ( "Revolution 1" and "Revolution 9", originally a single track, "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"), others had the "importance" that went beyond the strict scope of music ("Do not Pass Me By" was the first song Ringo , "Glass Onion" said the bitterness of the whole brood by Lennon just like "Piggies" George told the auction, "Happiness is a warm gun "was actually the only song of the disc which worked actively with all four musicians).

However, many other songs are other attempts have failed miserably (pseudo fracassone of heavy metal" Helter Skelter ") and other ("Rocky recount," "Wild Honey Pie" "The continuing story ..." Honey Pie ") were only fillers uses throw-away . In short, a fragmented and disjointed album that almost never saw all four work together and of the famous "Hey Jude", but only as a single output, would certainly have raised the tide.

APERTURE - gardens of Via Filippo Re - Bologna - June 25, 2010

diaphragms as the nomads to their concerts if they are people who has seen dozens of times that those times could be listed by mystical fervor and recall with philological precision, his wife and young adults with accompanying side by side, in the front row, with kids who may have discovered the band by downloading a torrent from one of the last case, fiacchissimi discs.

Whatever you do, more than a couple of decades now, to a concert Aperture the audience never fails ; this evening then, it will be because admission is free, friendly courtyard gardens of Via Filippo Re literally overflowing with frantic fans of all ages, ready to crowding in front of the barricade as in heat thirteen to the principle of the Take That concert as soon as the steel Federico Fiume (one mind and lider maximo always behind the training in Florence ) appears on the stage system only gives the pedal and the guitar.

Over the years I have seen play the diaphragm at least thirteen times (I honestly lost count), I followed Fiume (and his forelock, progressively more and more gray) in length and breadth of improbable town festivals, local noble and authentic taverns of the lowest category , and I never thought I could still move at a concert like the first time that I placed the needle on the grooves of "Siberia".

But when everything is ready and Fiumani attacks, just the riff bearing Siberia, I realize that is absolutely right my friend Roberta (Aperture that if he is seen "only" three times and now stands before me singing at breakneck speed, as in a trance in front of a golden idol): each time with Aperture is like the first time .

And despite those songs have kept me company for a very substantial portion of my life, listen Siberia in January, the smell of roses, I love to watch, diamond in the rough Is always something new and still be able to get deep lacerations.

pity then that will break the spell relentlessly when, after a hail of amarcord high intensity as those mentioned above, Fiumani pull out a betrayal I feel like a monster, which closes the album track "Walking on the wild side "2007, whose first stanza read (and I quote):" you stick four fingers in her ass / The pull out full of shit / Moreover, what do you expect? / After all, what I was looking for? .

not have to be a Harvard graduate bucks to see that between this case and a piece of the album, say, until "The Return of Desire," of water has passed under the bridge ...

still something new and repertory paccianesco then back to cry with, one after the other, Lips blue, green , Elena, Hot, Three times tears: a hat-trick to spread the bison. Then again trinkets from past records (especially the last "Hard to Find"), until the closing oil and Blue Ocean as encore.

They played fifty minutes and as long as it lasted, I have shuffled the bowel like in a pot, a lot of songs were missing, but for this there will always be the next concert.

Write Something Funny Wedding Card

RICOLOOP - Garden Salvatore Pincherle - Bologna - June 18, 2010

We welcome the signing of a new blog: Matteo Cortesi

Ricoloop is a genius, but of those who find it easier to perform on street corners rather than inside a room or in a concert hall.

Like some of his "colleagues" more or less illustrious past (on all the heroic bum Moondog blind), his vision of music and things of this world is completely personal, strictly self-sufficient and self-sufficient, using only homemade instruments as Moondog, so Ricoloop uses for its own performance, to 95% of their body and your breath.

The remaining 5% is occupied by a guitar, a bass, a (scassatissima) diamonica a couple of pianos and rudimentary, in any case the whole thing played for a few seconds and with the sole purpose of adding tiny shades to pieces already practically completed.

Ricoloop The modus operandi is simple: starting from the principles underlying the beatboxing (which is the practice - Perfected by Bobby McFerrin and particularly popular within the hip-hop - which consists in imitating the sounds of drums and other instruments with the use of voice), he develops real songs from scratch, by registering footswitchable a "layer" after the other and put each layer - precisely - in the loop. The end result is

beyond a reasonable description, and must be seen and heard to be able to understand the magnitude.

Above all else, is to impress the vast musical culture man (born Rico wurde in September 1968 in Dresden), able to range with disarming nonchalance (and often within the same song) from techno to Indian ragas to any type of ethnic music from around the world and from every latitude involving the use of voice (but even this is a necessary element, from Because Rico is perfectly capable of playing a virtually unlimited range of sounds).

is the third time in three years that Ricoloop performs in the pleasant surroundings of the gardens Pincherle, and once again impresses with its extreme generosity and vitality , we get that are not yet eight o'clock and he has already begun, God knows what.

find him bending over the pedal to sweat and fret like a maniac at the rate of urgent basis that he has just created, and the time is uncertain, it starts to fall a few drops of rain and the audience - when anything that large - is lost as a crazed swarm of bees .

Rico cares, and continues to bleed and add layers and fidgeting in front of it even if no more than fifteen people, the rain stops and starts to get people but for Rico is the same, behave the same way if there were twenty or two thousand, is in his trip and do not take it, and it is still elsewhere.

Suda between songs and plenty of smiles like a child for First Communion and thanks the public " to allow him to be himself . Then the stops with the thanks, you too busy to drain some of the music that carries within it, the pieces follow one after the other as rosaries shelled by calloused hands of a Sicilian widow, lose track of time, we and he, and when we wake are ten three quarters and bouncers kindly invite us to reach the exit.
He is a giant.

BEATLES - Magical Mystery Tour - 1967

"Magical Mystery Tour" is a strange affair. It's an album of Beatles and not ...

What happened was that Paul, during a trip to America, coming into contact with a hippy community, had the idea for a new film . He had just started to write the soundtrack while receiving very little enthusiasm on the part of others.

the end the film (an obvious paraphrase of an LSD trip) was created and broadcast by the BBC but picked up only criticism, even if the role should be acknowledged at least the forerunner of the "road movie" which opened two years later by "Easy rider. "

The soundtrack consists of 6 pieces came out in England as Double single , but in America, where the film was not to go out, the six tracks joined the A and B sides of singles released during the '67.

items include the "new" we note the melancholy " The Fool on the Hill" (perhaps the song most "noble" of the disk), the acidic "Blue Jay Way (Harrison) and" I'm the walrus "of an increasingly hallucinatory Lennon, ennobled by a stunning arrangement by Martin. Next to them the songs they had composed what is now considered the single most beautiful the history of pop : "Strawberry Fields Forever" / "Penny Lane" and another song Historically, the lennoniana "All you need is love" with its B-side "Baby You're A Richman." In particular, first, that his message Accustomed immediately anthem, was good, albeit in a very superficial, the unforgettable summer of "peace & love." Rated 6.5

Running With A Period

BEATLES - Sgt Pepper ... - 1967

Once released "Revolver", the Beatles left for an exhausting tour in Asia followed by an equally unsatisfactory in the U.S. where they were opposed to the famous phrase of Lennon on their popularity exceeding that of Jesus Christ . returned home with a nervous wreck and had the assurance from their manager Brian Epstein that they would never set foot on stage, back in the recording studio for a new album that should have been focused on their childhood in Liverpool.

The first two amazing songs out (not without great effort) were "Penny Lane" by Paul and "Strawberry Fields Forever" by John, but because the label wanted to release a new single, the two tracks were "requirements" for 45 laps. So the two pieces could not enter the project and the Beatles album liverpool had start all over again.

But the four were in a phase of this creative ferment that two days after completion of "Penny Lane" were already in the studio working on "A Day In The Life ", the masterpiece of their masterpiece album "Sergeant Pepper" .

"Sergeant Pepper" is the album that beatlesmaniaci waving to demonstrate how the Four have revolutionized the world of pop . They are right. There

who does not recognize the innovations on this disc a breaking point clear with what had been before and, together, a new starting point. "Revolver" had already shown how the Beatles were "forward" and "Sergeant Pepper" said that in fact they were actually going along another road.

No one had ever heard him use the orchestra in a song like "A Day In The Life", no one had ever heard of combining hard rock band and vaudeville in a way ... so naturally, no one had ever heard so many sound effects in the service of songs that eventually were phenomenal because of their (apparent) simplicity.

It probably was never released an album so obviously created under the influence of LSD. Although other musicians were slaves to drugs, perhaps even more than the Beatles, no one could bear the influence ... so disciplined in his own artistic production.

"Sergeant Pepper" is universally considered the best album of the Beatles and one of the masterpieces of the history of rock. And this, (which is far from obvious) was immediately apparent.

At its release, the American and radio days suspended for their music programming to transmit only those songs and the Times called it "a defining moment in the history of Western civilization." The album was

for two hundred weeks on chart and eventually represent an inexhaustible mine of ideas not just for pop, but also for the more evolved rock that would come later.

The Best Of Bang Bros

BEATLES - Revolver - 1966 CASTEL SAN PIETRO

After "Revolver" the pop was never the same. On this, no discussion.

The Beatles who'd touched the water with his foot by publishing "Rubber Soul", this time he dived for fish in the musical and thematic research and experimentation in sound .

scatter the live shows during which they ended up parodying themselves could not even hear what sounded lost their marbles by the screams of fans, the four dedicated fully to the work of composition and, crucially assisted George Martin, of realization in the room.

and have fun. Touching all topics, from taxes to Buddhism, exploring all genres of music, from childhood song ("Yellow Submarine"), the R & B ("Got To Get You Into My Life", where "you" do not is a lady, but, apparently, cocaine), to psychedelic pop ("She Said She Said", "Tomorrow Never Knows"), the Eastern music ("Love you to") to romantic song ("For No One") to blues ("Taxman"). And since

we are talking about good songs. Then there are the masterpieces .

"Eleanor Rigby ", written by Paul with the decisive contribution of the other three and masterfully arranged by George Martin they have cleverly used a string octet , is one of the classics of the group: a beautiful text that in concluding part, with the death of the protagonist and the priest who cleans his hands from the earth away from the burial, did not fail to shock the public.

" Here, There and Everywhere " Paul is considered by his best song that manages to combine melody and lyrics in a sweet honey absolutely no .

" Tomorrow Never Knows" is the song most experimental never recorded by the Beatles up to that point, the text inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead "is sung by John with a plaintive voice filtered through a guitar amplifier to obtain an almost mystical atmosphere. This is a song written (by Lennon) under the direct influence of ' LSD at that time was experiencing (the "Book of the Dead" is a reference text of culture LSD) speaks acid and its universe, and in this sense it was certainly one of the most socially influential songs ever made by the Beatles. It must be said, that because of LSD, Lennon would have spent the next two years in a constant state of mental deterioration that eventually reduce it to almost a wreck. Only with great mental and physical strength he managed to get out. Unlike many that the acid had literally burned the brain.

"Revolver" album was a critical for the Beatles, but especially for the pop with her insights found himself confronted. It would not be easy. It just started to digest all these new developments, would come the Sergeant Pepper and his band of lonely hearts ...

IN BLUES - Castel S. Peter (Bo) June 4 to 6

"Who does not love the blues has a hole in the soul" is an old saying by an unknown hand engraved on the wall of an old record store in Mississippi. We came to mind in the midst of thousands of people crowded the square in Castel San Pietro Terme (paesone between Bologna and Imola) for the first weekend in June of Castel San Pietro in Blues, the festival for fourteen years offers interesting music, often to debut in Italy.

after midnight when no one wanted to go from the square it was realized that there in the spa town no one has a hole in your soul.

had to be a party and they did, some even favored the entrance free, but in any case, the enthusiasm with which the concerts were greeted showed interest in music that manages to drag to entertain. The evening of Friday, a sort of preview in the Hall of the medieval castle, saw the performance of English Eddie Martin, singer, guitarist and harmonica player of high school, rigorous in its proposal for a blues sound, able to communicate with people who filled the small theater, so much so that many were left out.

Martin in the afternoon then had a meeting with the public in which he talked of his own music (called by critic Matthew Gaccioli ), what it means to be a bluesman in third millennium, with wide availability and simplicity. In the evening the stage of the square has seen the first part of the party with the British Martin Harley and the Hill Country Revue , American band to debut in Italy.

thirty-six alternates to the acoustic guitar lap slide guitar (the guitar on his legs held in a horizontal position), Harley (joined by Jay Carter Pete Swatton bass and drums) has enthused by tracks engaging, high-impact rimtico and presented with clear voice .

Far field sound for Hill Country Revue (pictured Scarpante Stefano), a band formed just over a year ago by Cody Dickinson of North Mississippi Allstars (visitors to the festival two years ago) but here he played the bass and washboard, joined by Daniel Robert Coburn harmonica and lead vocals, guitar Kirk Smithhart Edward Cleveland and battery.

With a cross between southern rock and acoustic blues of "hills", the Hcr have dragged the ability to vary the repertoire, including songs from "Make a move", the bell'esordio disk last year, and some covers. End with the inevitable between jamsession all artists.

opened Sunday afternoon with the presentation, the castle keep, the Angels lost the Mississippi "the book (Meridiano Zero publisher) to Fabrizio Poggi, great harmonica player who has put on paper a way to 'voices' (from A to Z of Albama Zydeco) in the world of blues. A book to be savored.

In the evening concert with the Americans Jason Ricci, harmonica player and singer, and the duo of Peter Karp and Sue Foley . A goblin on the scene that is generous in over ninety-minute concert, Ricci and his band New Blood (with whom he recorded the recent "Done with the devil"), has proposed a very rocking blues, almost pyrotechnic with the harmonica as if it were used in only a guitar, well supported by a quartet knit. Karp and end with Foley, who with "He Said, She Said", the disc released in the spring by Blind Pig reached the summit of the top ten U.S. blues.

Both guitarists, he is a singersongwriter of experience, she was a singer, perhaps too soft for an outdoor concert, brought a refined repertoire, with Niles and Mike Catapano Terratico low battery. After the exciting Ricci, the duo set the mood by listening to tones than to open air festival, and perhaps this is their limit, but there have been applause . As for the long Final jam with all the actors on stage. Castel San

Peter maintained his vocation to the blues and the wish that the appointment is not being overwhelmed by the cuts that are tearing down the culture.

Cheat Engine Chickens Invaders

BEATLES - Rubber soul - 1965

The Beatles were growing up. Musically and personally. Were far less inclined to submit to the dictates of the industry and felt like something new groped. The knowledge that they can afford all this was part of their growth.

"Rubber Soul" is the disc that greet the past and the future began to ogle It seemed that the four guards now things in perspective, not content to maximize the present. In most of them were aware that to last as much as possible was essential to define a personal style . A style that was influenced in a decisive encounter with one of the most influential factors on the culture and life of the late 60s: the ' LSD.

In any case, the evidence of this "growth" are scattered liberally anywhere along the grooves: George playing the sitar in "Norvegian Wood" a sign of interest in the East will not be a fad (as for the other three), the same "Norwegian Wood", Dylan markedly in its thematic shows such as The Beatles, outside of their microcosm started to even look at the references that were not loved (and children ...) of the fathers of rock'n'roll, and the beautiful "Girl" has an unusual atmosphere tragic and forlorn, and also contains some early reflections by John on Christianity, "My life" presents for the first time Lennon struggling with the places and people from his past ; "Nowhere Man" is the first Beatles song that makes no mention of love, "Drive My Car" is one of the most modern songs of the group and one of the best songs opening of an album ... Paradoxically, the great and justly celebrated "Michelle", despite his great wealth harmonic , ends up being one of the episodes less "interesting" (as innovative) of the disc.

"Rubber Soul" album is definitely step by step "child" during the "adult", the demonstration that the group could grow because it had a real creative streak even if not yet fully expressed, and not remain tied to a fashion designed, like all fashions, to end in nothing. Where will the new themes, but also some experiments sound (some psychedelic beginning to peep from the cover with their faces distorted, the handling of tapes, exotic instruments) we understand the following years: what matters is that with this album the Beatles show in the most obvious and the first time a fundamental thing: have a tomorrow.

Cleaning A White Coat

AngelicA 2010 - Bologna-Modena

That which ended last Sunday with a concert by the vocal quartet of Joan Marini and Chorus Arcanto was the most beautiful and varied edition of the festival Angelico, that of twenty years.

The rich and varied program set up by Massimo Simonini, an art director with ideas all too clear and bright intelligence , has articulated a number of proposals that have also helped to discover artists of prestige but little popular here (the If Bernard Parmegiani who opened the festival with its sound spatialization in a packed Great Hall of Saint Lucia) or atypical to find jazz musicians such as saxophonists Henry Threadgill until the project "4 Skies" made for the ' occasion by Arto Lindsay with Toscanini Philharmonic, presented in theaters and Lugo Modena. Or the

success (sold out) 's Electric Masada John Zorn Arena del Sole for "Essential Cinema" (pictured above Massimo Golfieri) with eight musicians playing on the big picture of avant-garde silent films.

So are spontaneous considerations. The first is that although niche (and not meant to be derogatory term) Angels scored in this edition a great success with the public in terms of turnout, as noted by the same Simonini. The various concerts at the Teatro San Leonardo often recorded the out (150 seats to sit on), even with the benefit of an entrance accessible.

numbers seem insignificant, but to see a room full of young people listen to the violinist who plays Enzo Porta Luigi Nono Jon Rose playing with electronics and his "interactive arch, leads to optimism in these cutting time of all that has to do with culture.

But there is a problem of location, as they say the intellectuals. The Teatro San Leonardo "should" be the natural place of angels, but especially for the concerts to promote research and the production of musicians who would not otherwise have a place to express themselves, try and set up productions, concerts and seminars. A sort of "city-garde theater," according to a felicitous expression coined by Simonini. To prevent that every time the festival is to take hospitality around the region.

Here's the rub. In the past, the commissioner Guglielmi promised that this would become, then everything is blown. Now Felicori Mauro, Director of Culture, ensure that the municipality is planning to become stable in the San Leonardo, which is obviously in need of restoration to ensure its feasibility.

The lack of a mayor and a councilor of reference not favored by the political culture that we should pursue, and that so far has seen extraordinary team leader as the Regional Minister Alberto Ronchi, then sacrificed by the new Government in the name of the partition.

AngelicA is now a "brand", also known in Europe, witnessing the best contemporary sound production. But it is also a "logo" which should be safeguarded and protected by all institutions and professionals. To learn more about the festival and its history: www.aaa-angelica.com.

BEATLES - Help! - 1965

Paul gets up one morning. Groping up the piano and puts his hands on the keys. Has in mind this thing ... "Scrambled eggs ... all My Troubles Seem So Far Away ... Paul closes the piano: scrambled eggs ... what nonsense ... But the tune does not go away ... (then he will say that some things are born perfect as an egg : without a crack, without a ' imperfection ...)

Well, we like to think that what is perhaps the most famous song in the world, "Yesterday", was born just like that.
A bit 'for the event.

Sure it was morning, there were some half a scrambled eggs, but all the rest was magic . This song has also flourished many legends, one of the most reliable, and even attributed to George Martin, says that Paul wrote the song in January 1964.

If true, this masterpiece was rejected by two album to finish third in the last minute (this "Help!").

is nevertheless true that McCartney could not convince himself to be the true "father" of the piece: he did listen to everyone, incredulous that a melody so perfect ... not already been made by someone else: he was afraid of it unconsciously copied.

In any case, the song was recorded June 14, 1964, the night after all day Paul had mitered (more curious fact) to "I'm Down" (single B-side of "Help!"). Among the many versions recorded was eventually chosen, not without great resistance on the part of Paul, that performed with a string quartet . George Martin had in mind what this quartet from the start, but Paul did not want to, not wanting something " to Mantovani.
Eventually he became convinced. Thank God

But here it must be said that Martin was not that glimpse of the unique history of the Beatles music, the songs were written by some Joh, Paul, George and (some) from Ringo, but the Almost all of the strokes of genius at arrangement is due to the "Fifth Beatles ". It's all about if its the one that was often simply a "good song" has become something immortal.

But back to the disk, there is only "Yesterday" in "Help!" (although many would be more than sufficient to justify the price): the disc is the soundtrack of the Beatles' second film, but had little to do with the movie itself (which, however, the Beatles did not give any creative input, nearly paying only their presence), but it was a very good collection of songs.

Some good: of course the aforementioned "Yesterday" (not included in the film), "Help!" (That the intent of that John had written it should have been a ballad, but was rearranged in a pop and it worked fast to the great), "Ticket to Ride is one of the best songs of this period the group. And then "You've got to hide away," "The Night Before," "I Need You," "Act Naturally" and even the cover of "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" ... Songs that were good, but, in the presence of "Yesterday" ....

Blood Vessel Popped On Boob

AC / DC - Live at the Stadio Friuli - Udine - 05/19/2010

Last year I read on a blog such a statement: "Who are the Ac / Dc?? Aaaaahhhh ... is true ... those that have a singer who screams like a strangled chicken ...". phrase written by a boy of 18 years.
Well, May 19, 2010, I went to hear, and 49,999 other people like myself, this chicken choked .

The afternoon is pleasant, the sun beats down and the audience is warmed up when the stage comes Maurizio Solieri that has some songs from his first album, a bit 'too hot, perhaps, the performance of vibration , met with little sympathy and a banner telling when we remember the ' Falqui effect caused to "fan" from the Milan group.

Luckily for them come on stage Pino Scotto to dedicate "Rock n 'Roll" by Led Zeppelin, the late Ronnie James Dio .. four four minutes, then resume whistling and throwing bottles. Greeting
final Sarcina: a nice "fuck you" ... I'll leave you any comment.

21.30: turn off the lights and giant screens of the stage -tailed horned project a cartoon in which a possessed Angus shoot at full speed when traveling on the train he and his colleagues (along with girls a little dubious).

The train derails, explodes the stage, and the guitar riff of "Rock n 'Roll Train" sets fire to an audience already over by the morning, the "Our" are a thousand, and in a song from the new album and classic evening runs smooth.

Phil Rudd is a metronome, Cliff Williams followed him to the wheel, Malcolm Young makes his "dirty" and valuable work, while Brian Johnson gives voice to the Friuli stadium 50 thousand ...

And then there's him ... as low as big a phenomenon, a force of nature: Angus Young has fun, laughing, AC / DC and of course, everybody understands.

It 'hard to find the best time of the show : could be "Back in Black", when all the recognized only dall'intro charleston Phil Rudd, Angus, or when partly the riff of "Thunderstruck" and triggered the delirium, or when, during "The Jack" always a sudden Angus strip (note the physical and the form in which it arrived in 55 years ... and I say 55).

More time might be better candidate for the descent of the bell Hell with Johnson, who has 62 years, which gives to the "Hell's Bells" appendendovisi, or when the couple "You Shook Me All Night Long "/" TNT "is literally exploding the public. Do not overlook the Rosie doll that appears in all its forms before a "Let There Be Rock" era, in which Angus to show off all his skill and "impertinence".

The Guns of "For Those about rock" greet us, the fireworks accompany us to the exit.

Udine for the evening was the capital of rock n 'roll world , the machine starts to Bologna, and I think the words of that "cinnazzo" (as they say in my part) and I wanted her to see the choked his chicken Wednesday, May 19, 2010, reminding him that sometimes invecedi speak, you should choke a bit '.

Nine Below Zero - Live at the Naima (For) - 14/05/2010

atmosphere is great blues club frontier - the very heart of the Route 66 un'Emilia who dreams and longs for the infinite loneliness of the American prairies - the air breathed by hundreds of spectators that attended Friday night at Naima Forli to attend the concert of Nine Below Zero.

Determined to make up the numbers not exactly impressive, with a contagious enthusiasm and exuberant supporters, patrons found themselves in front of a band determined to honor its tradition of group symbol of the British blues scene .

pulled by a locomotive human as Dennis Greaves, ringleader of the NBZ known to handle his guitar with commendable versatility - now caressing her with complicity as was his mistress, now eagerly pulling it like a bouncer with a client side - the band has shown great determination and personality doing justice to the prestigious "venue" that hosted them.

merit also the drummer Brendan O'Neill and bassist Gerry McAvoy, excellent to create an impressive rhythm section on which the harmonica of Mark Feltham (co-founder of the group with Greaves and finally back on stage after the 'absence for health reasons) was able to throw with skill and character.

an hour and three quarters of a concert, here are the NBZ Squaderno the strengths of their repertoire electric blues: from "Three Times Enough" to "I'm a lonely man", from "Do not Point Your Finger At The Guitar Man "to" Hit The Spot "to name just a few.

Best of 30-year career condensed into nothing short of a live "volcano" (worthy response to the Icelandic volcano, the real one, who had tried unsuccessfully to block the band at London) that carries within himself all the characteristic features of the sound of Nine Below Zero: the softness and the seductive appeal of rhythm and blues array el British 'punk restlessness always ready to leak from the manner and attitude of its members.

What is left at the end of a concert so it is a great sense of satisfaction but also of physical tiredness that affects not only musicians but also the public, back from a real cathartic shower of conflicting emotions and perceptions.

There is to be regretted, therefore, not see them for the second consecutive year at the festival Castel San Pietro In Blues : internationally renowned festival of that last year, hailed the band's Greaves and Feltham and that this 'year - it must be said - still offers, June 4 to 6 lots of goodies for fans of the genre (from the southern Hill Country Blues Review of the country-blues of Sue Foley and Peter Karp Band.

BEATLES - Beatles for sale - 1964

"A Hard Day's Night" was a very good album. Soon after, "I feel fine" was a very good individual: everything announces another big test of the quartet from Liverpool, instead, "Beatles for sale" appears to be perhaps the disc worst Beatles entire production.

In return it to the cover while the originals are lost in the anonymity .

course, "Eight Days a Week" came ( undeservedly) topped the charts (after all this was now a doom for any album of 4) but this is not enough to dignify a work whose songs are now known only from hardcore fans. In fact, the Beatles were tired and perhaps not handle the pressure.

Some suspect that the composition vein of Paul and John were now exhausted (although lennoniana "I'm a loser" derived the style of Dylan, but not without a certain originality, seemed to prove otherwise) someone else changing the classification to the Beatle phenomenon only Costume denying any artistic justification.

The Beatles were for sale, someone wanted to buy them?

Kates Playground Shows Foot

BEATLES - A Hard Day's Night -1964

Not even a year after the release of their first album, Beatle was already an established fact.

The faces of the four Beatles were everywhere and the boys combed and dressed like them, the concerts were besieged and the records were selling like hot cakes. And since that time all the stars of the track ended up making a film (do you remember Elvis?), here are the four in front of the camera in the guise of ... themselves grappling with the fans.

However, this "A Hard Day's Night" ("All for One" in Italy) is an exception in the panorama of "musicals" of the time because Richard Lester (director of the popular independent film English) did a great job .

The album is the soundtrack of the film and represents a decisive step in the production of the group .

To begin with, all songs are ineffable couple signed Lennon / McCartney (you know then that the songs were composed almost entirely of one or the other and signed by both) and many of them have entered of law in the history of the band . Let's say the title track, "I Should Have Known Better," "And I Love Her", which John described as "the first" Yesterday "by Paul", "Things We Said Today", Paul's reflection on his romantic relationship with actress Jane Asher, unleashed the "Can not buy me love" ...

Beatles sound- was already well established and was now quite evident that the Beatle mania was fueled by more talent than by the Four urletti their hysterical fans.
