That which ended last Sunday with a concert by the vocal quartet of Joan Marini and Chorus Arcanto was the most beautiful and varied edition of the festival Angelico, that of twenty years.
The rich and varied program set up by Massimo Simonini, an art director with ideas all too clear and bright intelligence , has articulated a number of proposals that have also helped to discover artists of prestige but little popular here (the If Bernard Parmegiani who opened the festival with its sound spatialization in a packed Great Hall of Saint Lucia) or atypical to find jazz musicians such as saxophonists Henry Threadgill until the project "4 Skies" made for the ' occasion by Arto Lindsay with Toscanini Philharmonic, presented in theaters and Lugo Modena. Or the
success (sold out) 's Electric Masada John Zorn Arena del Sole for "Essential Cinema" (pictured above Massimo Golfieri) with eight musicians playing on the big picture of avant-garde silent films.
So are spontaneous considerations. The first is that although niche (and not meant to be derogatory term) Angels scored in this edition a great success with the public in terms of turnout, as noted by the same Simonini. The various concerts at the Teatro San Leonardo often recorded the out (150 seats to sit on), even with the benefit of an entrance accessible.
numbers seem insignificant, but to see a room full of young people listen to the violinist who plays Enzo Porta Luigi Nono Jon Rose playing with electronics and his "interactive arch, leads to optimism in these cutting time of all that has to do with culture.
But there is a problem of location, as they say the intellectuals. The Teatro San Leonardo "should" be the natural place of angels, but especially for the concerts to promote research and the production of musicians who would not otherwise have a place to express themselves, try and set up productions, concerts and seminars. A sort of "city-garde theater," according to a felicitous expression coined by Simonini. To prevent that every time the festival is to take hospitality around the region.
Here's the rub. In the past, the commissioner Guglielmi promised that this would become, then everything is blown. Now Felicori Mauro, Director of Culture, ensure that the municipality is planning to become stable in the San Leonardo, which is obviously in need of restoration to ensure its feasibility.
The lack of a mayor and a councilor of reference not favored by the political culture that we should pursue, and that so far has seen extraordinary team leader as the Regional Minister Alberto Ronchi, then sacrificed by the new Government in the name of the partition.
